Who We Are...

CARES School is an accredited, non-public special education program providing educational and psycho-social services to children struggling in their home and school environments throughout Mississippi.

We are...

  • A provider of special education services, regular education services, and GED programs for students in the public and private arena.
  • An interdisciplinary team of professionals and support staff including appropriately certified teachers and licensed therapists/counselors as well as experienced and degreed direct care staff.
  • Empowered by our mission, we aim to help students and their families by providing quality individualized education and related services that will enable them to achieve their full potential.
What We Do...

We offer a wealth of educational opportunities for our residential students as well as school referred students by offering daily academic and related services to those students who are unable to maintain themselves in their home and school environments. Our facility provides intense, structured services and encourages the students to be responsible, do their best, cooperate with others, and to treat everyone with dignity and respect. We do this by:

  • Developing individualized educational, behavioral and treatment plans for residential and day treatment students.
  • Providing 330 minutes of daily academic instruction.
  • Facilitating on-going individual, family and specialized group therapy.
  • Teaching social, life, career, and liesure skills
  • Providing individualized transitional services for a successful return to the public school
  • Respecting and supporting each child as he or she works toward the achievement of individual goals.
  • Who We Serve...

    Children and adolescents from throughout Mississippi, aged 6-18 who are in need of intensive residential, outpatient and educational services. These children:
    often display either emotional and/or behavioral difficulties in school and/or at home.

  • have likely exhausted all possible courses of intervention available to them within the public school setting.
  • displays an inability to learn which cannot be explained by intellectual, sensory, or health factors.
  • exhibits an inabilty to build or maintain satisfactory interpersonal relationships with peers and adults.
  • demonstrates inappropriate types of behavior or feelings under normal conditions.
